GCUB Brazil International Scholarship for 2026

The GCUB International Mobility Scholarship offers a valuable opportunity for international students to study at 58 prestigious universities in Brazil. This scholarship is offered by the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities, often known as GCUB, to over 850 students for Master’s and PhD programs. Students from almost all nationalities are eligible to apply.

The GCUB announced the 4th edition of the scholarship on 05 June 2025 to students who wish to pursue their studies in 2026. There is no application fee, and students can apply without requiring an acceptance letter from a Brazilian professor. Students should apply before the deadline on 13 July 2025. Applications after the due date would not be considered. Therefore, start preparing your application as early as possible.

Eligibility Criteria

Only those students who meet the following criteria will be able to apply.

  • Students from a country that has diplomatic relations with Brazil can only apply
  • Brazilian nationals cannot apply
  • Documents must be in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French
  • The student must be in good health
  • They must be able to finance additional expenses such as flight tickets, visa fees, medical/health insurance for the entire study duration, and other costs
  • The student must submit all required educational documents

Scholarship Benefits

Every student selected for the scholarship will get the following benefits:

  • No application fee
  • No enrollment, tuition, or academic fees for the entire study duration
  • Monthly stipend with additional allowances for research (both Master’s and PhD)
  • Access to university restaurants
  • Access to classes, classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other university services

Documents Requirement

All of these documents must be submitted through the only application. Otherwise, your application will not be considered by the concerned authority.

  • Identification Document (such as Passport, National Identity Card, or Citizen Certificate)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV), you can use any format, such as Europass
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate for applying to master’s and Master’s degree certificate for PhD students (if required by the program)
  • Two Essays/Letters
    • Academic expectations and interests, professional expectations and perspectives for returning to the country of origin (maximum of 1,000 words)
    • Research proposal (maximum of 4,000 words)
  • University professors applying for a PhD would need a binding contract with an institution of higher education

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, you need to fill out the following form. The form page may be down due to high student traffic. You can apply to up to 5 programs across different Brazilian universities.

Selection Criteria

The selection process would be carried out by a Committee appointed by the Executive Board of GCUB. The applications will be assessed based on academic and professional documents. The scholarships will be awarded based on applicants’ educational and professional profiles, as well as geographical distribution, including their country of origin.
